Dumisani Masondo is making waves in the entertainment industry.

Germiston’s King Dee is making waves in the industry with his multifaceted talent.

Meet Dumisani Masondo, also known as King Dee, a rising star who is seamlessly merging his passion for music and acting to captivate audiences.

Roots of Inspiration
Originating from Pomeroy, KwaZulu-Natal, Masondo’s artistic journey began during his school days.

Church plays and participation in the school choir exposed him to the world of performance, where he found his voice singing Isichathamiya, a Zulu vocal style.

Reflecting on his love for both music and acting, he states, “I love music and acting because I get to connect with people I don’t know.

It’s always an honour to be complimented by strangers. It teaches me to respect everyone I meet.”

Dumisani Masond is breaking barriers in the music and acting industries.

A Breakthrough Moment

The year 2021 marked a turning point in Masondo’s career.

His music video for his single Baby Mama gained widespread attention and was featured on MTV, Channel O, and Trace Music.

Simultaneously, he made a brief appearance on the television series The River, leaving an indelible mark despite the brevity of his role.

Balancing Passion and Challenges

For independent artists like King Dee, the road to success is not without its obstacles.

He acknowledges the challenges of breaking into the industry, saying, “It is always not easy, especially when you are an independent artist.

You have to hustle like crazy, hustling for both music and acting. Everything needs money, especially music.

It’s better with acting because you make money instead of spending.”

Upcoming Musical Exploration

Exciting news awaits King Dee’s fans as he gears up to release his new single, Uzongikhumbula, in late October.

The song, produced by DJ Audionic and engineered by Temple Arena, will showcase a slight evolution in his style, blending Afropop with elements of Amapiano.

“Fans can expect a bit of change in style. It’s still Afropop, but with a bit of Piano this time,” he teases.

Navigating Between Art Forms

Switching between acting and music might seem challenging, but King Dee has found his stride.

“It is always easy.

I have to understand the audience I’m entertaining at the moment.

There’s a huge difference between being on stage and being on set. Remember, there’s a bit of acting when you’re doing music.

In both, I’ve gained the skill of acting and confidence in front of the camera,” he explains.

A Presence on Screen

King Dee’s screen presence extends beyond his music career. He has appeared as an extra in various TV shows, including iSitha as a policeman, and on Moja Love’s Wrongfully Diagnosed.

King Dee’s journey has seen him share the stage with notable artists such as Black Diamond, Mlindo The Vocalist, Ntando, Sjava, Intaba YaseDubai, and Big Zulu, solidifying his place among South Africa’s emerging talents.

He is a testament to the power of passion and determination.

With his fusion of music and acting, he’s carving a unique niche in the entertainment world, leaving an indelible mark on stages and screens alike.
