The event promises to be bigger and better than ever!

September 29 will mark the return of Strictly Hip Hop 23 to be held at the Rok Pub, in Pretoria.

This annual event, now in its third year, promises an unforgettable night of music, culture, and community unity.

The Rok Pub, situated on Block TT Soshanguve, along the M17, will host this vibrant gathering of hip-hop lovers.

The event will kick off at 18:00 until late.

Organizer Siyabonga Maseko, known to many as 61ack SaGa, sees Strictly Hip Hop 23 as not just an event but a homage to hip hop’s roots.

He emphasizes that it’s “a celebration of hip hop’s essence and a platform for local talents to shine.”

Trophy will take to the stage on the day.

The thematic choice for this year, “Hip Hop Retro,” aims to reconnect with hip-hop’s origins and revive its cultural essence.

Siyabonga aptly stated, “We want to take it back and reinstall the Hip Hop culture to the people who have a love for the local hip-hop culture and create more space for hip-hop creatives to express themselves and unite the community.”

He has extended an invitation to hip-hop artists who would like to be part of the event, “Artists should have five quality songs and one professional picture.”

Adding an extra layer of excitement to the event, Strictly Hip Hop 23 will feature two special guests: Trophy and Mzebbs.

In response to the increasing demand for a platform among emerging artists, the event organizers have introduced weekly open mic sessions.

These sessions will provide a stage for those who couldn’t secure a spot at the main event.

Entry to the event is free of charge, attendees must be 18 years of age or older to partake in the musical festivities. Food and drinks to be sold at the venue.

“This is our 3rd year doing the Event. The second attempt was not successful as we faced challenges with the venue last year, but we managed to find a venue where they understand and see the vision and mission of what we’re trying to accomplish,” says Siyabonga.
