N-nonymus has officially claimed the title of champion at the Kwatsaduza Hip-Hop Rapathon, a competition showcasing some of the finest lyrical talents Kwatsaduza has to offer. Rising above the fierce competition, N-nonymus captivated the crowd and judges with an unforgettable performance.

We caught up with the newly crowned winner to talk about the experience, the journey, and what’s next after. “Being crowned a champion felt so amazing and some part of me couldn’t believe it. I still can’t believe it, great moments like these usually occur in my dreams, not in my reality. I competed hoping to have fun and that happened beyond my expectations because at some point nerves got in the way but I still managed to rise above them and enjoy myself. Thankfully the judges and people enjoyed the moment with me,” he said.

Preparation was key, “I love hip-hop. It raised me to become the N-nonymus you saw on that stage. I’m a proud hip-hop scholar. The love I have for hip-hop helped me prepare for this competition.”

His artistry is deeply rooted in the legacy of those who came before him. “The amazing work that my favourites have done has inspired me to find my voice and share my creativity in a way that helps hip-hop move forward. When people listen to me, I want them to understand the power of rap and feel the same love I feel when I listen to it.”

His journey into hip-hop started at a young age, sparked by an unforgettable memory. “One memory that ignited my passion for hip-hop was the first time I saw my older brother rapping along to Busta Rhymes’ ‘Break Ya Neck.’ I think I was seven years old when it happened, and it blew my mind. I wanted to know how to do it and figure out how to play with words like that,” he shared.

N-nonymus has since refined his style, drawing influence from a long list of icons, including Black Hippy, Wu-Tang Clan, Odd Future, Black Star, A Tribe Called Quest, The Roots, Nas, Jay-Z, Ab-Soul, Pro Era, Rapsody, Kanye West, De La Soul, Pitch Black Afro, ProKid, Skwatta Kamp, Teargas, AKA, Reason, Khuli Chana, Priddy Ugly, A-Reece, Nasty C, and Kendrick Lamar, among many others.

What’s Next for N-nonymus?

Fresh off his victory, he is focused on keeping the momentum going. “Definitely more appearances at events like the Rapathon. I’m working on some new music to share and looking forward to collaborating with some of the homies who were also in the competition. If you follow me on my socials, you’ll be updated on when and how my projects come out.”

With a newfound platform, he plans to use this win to elevate his career. “I’m planning to use it wisely and help N-nonymus become famous. I want to grow the name as much as it’s destined to grow. I’d like to do more performances and keep working on my craft to become a better artist.”

The ultimate vision is clear—he wants hip-hop to be respected and appreciated for the powerful art form that it is. “Platforms like Kwatsaduza Hip-Hop Rapathon empower emerging talents by providing them a space and tools to showcase their abilities.”

For N-nonymus, this victory is more than just a title—it’s a validation of his hard work, dedication, and belief in himself. “This win is a reminder that hard work and dedication eventually pay off. It’s also an inspiration to keep going and moving forward. I plan to reveal more of who I am. It’s an amazing experience.”
