Explosive Success: Strictly Hip Hop 23 Ignites Pretoria's Hip-Hop Culture

Strictly Hip Hop 23, an annual event, has seen consistent growth in popularity over the years.

The recent edition lived up to expectations, and organizer Siyabonga Maseko, known as 61ack SaGa, expressed his contentment with its execution.

The event proceeded seamlessly, and Siyabonga was particularly delighted with the impressive turnout.

Nearly 90% of the scheduled artists graced the event.

The event aimed to unify the local hip-hop community and provide a platform for emerging talents to shine.

Siyabonga emphasized that the event wasn’t merely about entertainment but also about honouring hip-hop’s roots and essence.

Artists in attendance had the opportunity to showcase their talents, adding depth to the event’s experience.

“I would like to thank all the artists who performed – they all give it their best and owners of Rok Pub want to do a weekly event where artists will get to showcase their talent.

“The plan is to start gradually by hosting monthly then when we find domination we will move to weekly.

“A lot is coming, artists should up their selves and improve the quality of music,” says Siyabonga.

While the event was undoubtedly a success, Siyabonga also shared insights into the challenges faced.

He expressed a desire for additional resources, including marketing support and activation tours, to expand the event’s reach and impact.

The feedback from the event highlights that this event isn’t just a one-night affair but part of a broader movement aimed at nurturing and promoting local hip-hop talent.

The prospect of transitioning from monthly to weekly events at Rok Pub hints at exciting developments for the hip-hop community in Pretoria.
